Dear Samira, It can feel scary when we have to tell someone something that might hurt them. If you choose not to tell them, you may feel you are being nice, but it ignores the part of you that wants to just be friends, which is important. Choosing to let them know you want to just be friends is a hard thing to do, but it is also kind. It lets the other person have all the information while respecting your own feelings. This is tough, but it sounds like you are being thoughtful and intentional with your response, which is amazing.
