As Ottawa's captain, Jenner led the Charge to its first-ever Walter Cup Final appearance in 2025. She has also won two Olympic golds with Team Canada. With cousins in the NHL and WNBA, Nurse has athletics in her blood. A member of the Toronto Sceptres for the 2024-2025 season, she was chosen by Vancouver to lead the new club to success. 2021: The NWHL is renamed the Premier Hockey Federation (PHF). 2023: The PHF ends. In August, the PWHL is announced. 2024: The first PWHL game is played! OWL: As kids, did you think it was possible to become a pro player? DARYL: I dreamed about the NHL. But I always knew it wasn't possible. EMMA: I never thought pro hockey would be a thing. Making Team Canada was my dream, but not many girls get to do it. Now with the PWHL, more girls can accomplish their dreams. O: What does the PWHL's success mean to you? E: The last two seasons have been incredible. We always thought there would be an audience for women's hockey. O: Is there a teammate who inspires you? E: Natalie Spooner. After practice or games, she drives two hours to her home to care for her son! She brings a lot of wisdom. D: Natalie is one of the kindest humans. On a tough day, she is a beam of light. O: What advice would you give to aspiring pro athletes? E: Being an athlete is a privilege rather than something that you must do. D: Part of my success in hockey was because I loved it so much. Waking up at 5:00 a.m. to practise didn't feel like work. Be honest with yourself. What do you love doing? Practising those things will take you to new heights.
