Rescuing Cats Cats may need rescuing for many different reasons. Some cats are born outside and forced to live in harsh environments. Others are abandoned by their previous owners. When an animal rescue organization finds a cat in need, they will pair it with a foster home. Fosters are volunteers who help care for rescue cats until they are ready to be adopted! A Tale of Three Cats James and Lila's family wanted to help cats, so they applied to become fosters for an organization called the Toronto Cat Rescue (TCR). After TCR approved them, the family got started. Princess Chonky, who was abandoned by her owner, came to them first. They enjoyed fostering her, so the family felt ready to take in two stray kittens, Mittens and Socks. After a while, the family decided to officially adopt the cats.
