He pointed at my head. Frederica and Rose laughed. My face burned. "Yeah. Ha ha," I said, taking off my hat and shoving it behind my back. The bell rang for lunch and they all got up and left. "You guys go. I'll catch up," I called after them. Jayden walked up to me. "You actually want to join a club with them?" "No," I said, putting my hat back on, firmly. "I just want to see what they're eating for lunch and it's easier if they sit together." We walked into the cafeteria and sat down at a corner table, crouching as low as we could. The Trio were a few tables away, designing a logo for their "genius club." I pulled two pairs of binoculars out of my handy backpack and handed one to Jayden. We watched as Frederica pulled a blueberry jam sandwich out of her lunch bag! "Aha!" I said, standing, ready to rush over and accuse her of the crime. Jayden grabbed my arm. "Wait! Look!" he said. I held up the binoculars. Jack and Rose also had jam sandwiches! Jayden almost fell over, laughing. "Belinda the Bold is in a real jam now!" I frowned. "I'll just have to try something else." "Like what?" asked Jayden. "How do we know they weren't in it together?" I thought for a minute and then snapped my fingers. "There's another quiz next week, right?" Jayden nodded. "Maybe we three should start a math genius club," I said. "We could sit together at lunch and plan the rules of the club and stuff?" Jack chuckled. "Great idea. But I'm not sure you can join with a dorky hat like that." Turn the magazine to read your own chapter book!
