4 chickaDEE Fab Apples Have you ever noticed the teensy spots on apples? They're tiny pores called "lenticels" (say: LEN-tih-sells) that allow the fruit to "breathe." Oxygen goes in, and carbon dioxide gas, water and heat come out. Pears and potatoes have lenticels, too. Wash up for Clean Hands Week, September 17 to 23. Out to Lunch Hungry? You might want to skip this silly sandwich!
