Size It is about the size of a rooster. Family The macaw is a type of parrot. There are 17 species of macaws. Fly School A baby macaw stays with its parents for one year while it learns to fly and get food. Neat Noises The macaw makes loud, screeching noises to let its friends know where it is. This bird is also good at copying the sounds of other animals and even humans! Cool Body There's a bone inside the macaw's tongue which helps it break into fruits. Fave Foods The macaw munches on seeds, nuts, insects, fruits and plants. Nature Helper This bird helps plant trees by dropping seeds onto the forest floor when it eats.
