Scientists are taking a close look at fuzzy balls of moss that show up on some glaciers in Alaska and Iceland. It seems that herds of these moss balls—which are about the size of tennis balls and have been nicknamed glacier mice—move slowly across the icy surface. So slowly, in fact, that you can't see it happen. While experts have known about glacier mice for decades, they still don't know how the mounds move. Scientists have theorized that wind was pushing them along, or that these herds were resting on a slope and slowly slip-sliding away. But studies have shown that doesn't seem to be the case, so the mystery of the glacier mice remains unsolved. Stay tuned!
