What happens when you wear a watch on a plane?
Time fl ies!
Try this high-flying experiment
with Dr. Zed and Ooze.
A parachute's job is to slow down a fall from
a very high place, like a person jumping out
of a flying airplane. But this time, it's just your
toy! This experiment works because the wide
surface of the parachute catches and pushes
against the air, which slows down your toy's
fall. This is called air resistance.

What to do:
You'll need:
• Coffee filter
• 4 pieces of string, each
cut 30 cm (12 in.) long
• Scissors
• Pencil
• Clear tape
• Small, light toy
1
Use the pencil to
punch a small hole on
each side of the filter.
Make four holes in total.
2
Add tape around
each hole so the paper
doesn't tear. Tie a piece
of string to each hole.
3
Pull the four strings
together and tie them
to your toy. Use tape
to secure it.
4
With an adult's
help, safely stand up
on a chair, hold the
parachute high
above you and let go.
